The trade-off is compressed timing. You climb Padar in mid-morning light rather than at dawn, you reach Manta Point when the rest of the day fleet does, and you are back in Labuan Bajo the same evening. What you save is two nights of accommodation and, for many travellers, two nights of motion.

Good to Know & Caveats

• It is a long day — pickup is early morning and you return in the evening. The Padar climb lands in the heat of mid-morning rather than at dawn.
• The park entry fee is collected on site and must be paid in cash.
• Itineraries are weather-dependent. Skippers reorder or drop stops when the swell between Padar and Komodo builds, and Manta Point in particular is skipped whenever the current runs too hard to snorkel safely.
• Komodo dragons and manta rays are wild animals in a national park. Rangers know where the dragons usually rest and manta season peaks December to February, but no operator can guarantee a sighting.
